Pied* Beauty

Glory be to God for dappled things,
For skies of couple-color as a brindled cow,
For rose-moles in stipple** upon trout that swim.
Fresh-firecoal chestnut falls***, finches' wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced---fold, fallow, and plough;
And all trades, their gear and tackle and trim.
All things counter, spare, original, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled, (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change: Praise Him.
---Gerard Manley Hopkins, 1877
*Pied: Having patches of more than one color; i.e. the "Pied Piper" **Rose-colored dots or flecks ***Fallen chestnuts, red as burning coals

thanks for the encouragement, marie...
i'm doing ok... i deal with a lot of fatigue and right now i'm pretty much reaching up to touch rock bottom. the fatigue varies from day to day, and i'm a bit better today, but the last few days haven't been so hot. we're also a bit worried because it appears that my thyroid is swelling periodically. yes, we're already on it, but we're still waiting to hear back from my doctor, who hasn't responded yet, so i guess no news is good news. i'd appreciate your prayers. it's kindof hard to keep in the normal routine of basic life when all i want to do is stare of into space or sleep.
how are you doing? how's your kiddie?

We prayed for you at our Lutheran church down here. Hope things look up for you. I'll visit over at your site. God knows your struggles, and He is kinder about these things than we often are on ourselves.
