Joy to the World

(A paraphrase of Psalm 98)

Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love.
---Isaac Watts, 1719

Hi Marie! Happy New Year to you too!

Did you perform the Handel duets? Poor Christy has been sick...so we didn't get together to play. Good luck to the solo piece! I will have to look it up on the 'Net to see what it's all about.

I finally bought myself some music books (got tired of the things the library had on offer). I got a book of Celtic folksongs and a "tons of tunes" book with a lot of classical melodies. Should be lots of fun to play! They both come with accompaniment CDs...although the Celtic CD in particular sounds like elevator music and I don't like the tempo that they have set some of the songs to. The classical CD is OK though, I think I will enjoy it a lot.

Yah, there's awful stuff going on in Sudan. If you've found any good sources of news/events/background for what's happening there, do share.
